As defined, the word difference indicates way in which people or things are not the same. I have spent much time over the past 10 years trying to differentiate our company from other companies that offer similar services. It has been difficult at times, and to be frank, it has been a challenge. However, we have plowed through and discovered some ways that we are different as a company.
Specialty Engineering Experience and Expertise
Many years ago, I realized that many engineering firms and contractors have a need for engineering services. Lots of firms have many disciplines on staff, but not all of them cover all the specialties required in today’s marketplace. That is where we have been able to differentiate our business from those of others firms.
The industrial market is a good example of this. Many industrial firms are really good at piping and process system design, but very few of them have the expertise to do:
- HVAC designs for control rooms
- Switch gear buildings
- Offshore crew quarters
These buildings are often complicated with numerous code requirements that make it difficult for a firm without specific experience to perform the design well. This is where we can step in to fill that role.
Work with us to Become a One-Stop Shop
We offer our experience and knowledge to the prime firm and can be involved to the extent required. We can operate behind the scenes and become an extension of the prime firm, allowing a firm to become a one-stop shop for a project.
This concept also applies to commercial and industrial HVAC contractors. We can assist contractors with the following and much more:
- Code compliance issues
- Equipment replacements
- Pipe alterations
- Load calculations
Most contractors are not used to working with professional engineers directly. We have been doing just that, and we will continue to be a resource for many commercial contractors.
Our Secret to Success: We Start Smart
It has been my philosophy that the smarter you start an endeavor the better you finish that endeavor.
Over the years we have worked hard to start projects off with as much insight, information, and coordination as is possible so that everyone is working efficiently toward a common goal.
It is way too easy to blindly start a design project, making unnecessary assumptions, not gathering information, and even worse, not communicating with the client. This just leads to lots of backtracking, overdesign, missed schedules, frustrated clients, and disappointed owners.
It has been my opinion all along that we don’t need to work faster than other firms or have large staffs to throw on projects. We have the in-depth experience and up-to-date expertise in our specialty niche to avoid the common surprises and mistakes that delay most projects due to too many folks going in too many directions and most of the time going in the wrong direction.
By working smarter at the beginning, we save time and effort in the design process. Often times we can accomplish large design projects in a time frame comparable to much larger firms simply by working smarter.
We believe that quality time spent on the front end of the project pays off at the back end. Therefore, the smarter you start the better you finish.
